On Friday 2 October 2026, Europe 1 reports, in its 1:16 p.m. live feed, that in Aubervilliers, in the area of the Jean-Pierre-Timbaud lycée, clashes are taking place between students and law enforcement: CRS riot police deployed in force fire tear gas, the metro station is closed and the avenue is drowned in smoke and gas. According to the same text, these scenes have been repeating since 8:30 a.m. at three lycées in the same area. The mortar fire, stone throwing, barricades and fires described in the same text appear in the linked entry.
In a second article (03/10), Europe 1 describes, on avenue Jean-Jaurès, a charge by police officers and gendarmes followed by three warnings then tear gas fire. The article does not name the lycée: the link with the Timbaud lycée scene is not established, so the charge is not counted here.
A news compilation of 5 October attributes to a Le Parisien journalist that tear gas was fired “in response to mortar fire” (translated) outside this lycée. The Le Parisien article could not be read (access denied). Europe 1 describes the opposite order: mortars and stones “in response to the tear gas fired by the CRS” (translated). The order of events is therefore contradictory between the two versions, only one of which was read.
This scene is not the one in the entry on the plainclothes police officer outside a fast-food restaurant in Aubervilliers, the same day: no source read links the two.
What is missing to confirm
- A second independent source: only Europe 1 (two articles, a single outlet) was read.
- The Le Parisien article (journalist on the spot, according to the compilation): not read, access denied; BFM Paris, Bondy Blog and Actu.fr have no article read on this scene.
- The order of events (gas then mortars, or the reverse) and the date: Europe 1 dates the scene to 2 October; the compilation of 5 October does not specify the day.
- A statement from the Paris police prefecture or the public prosecutor’s office.
