On Thursday 8 October 2026, the twentieth day of the lycée pupils’ mobilisation according to France 3, rubbish bins are set on fire outside several lycées in Reims (Colbert, Roosevelt, Libergier, Clemenceau, Georges-Brière) and fires are started at the foot of entrance doors, according to Actu17; France 3 writes that the facade of the lycée Roosevelt is slightly damaged. These disturbances take place during the visit to Reims of the Minister of National Education, received in another lycée.

In the morning, outside the lycée Franklin-Roosevelt, a police officer assigned to the intervention unit of the police station is hit in the face by a firework mortar shot, while shots were targeting law enforcement (Actu17, France 3). He is taken to the emergency room. The Reims public prosecutor tells Actu17 that he is “slightly injured in the eye” (translated) and that a minor was arrested and placed in police custody. France 3 specifies that it is still not known whether the shot hit his face directly or by ricochet. According to L’Union cited by Actu17 (the L’Union article could not be read: access denied), the rocket reportedly first hit his leg, then went up to his face by slipping under the helmet visor; he reportedly also has a burn.

The union Alliance Police de la Marne deplores, according to Actu17, that “one of our colleagues” (translated) is injured “once again” (translated); the union Unité 51 says, according to France 3, that Marne police officers face “unprecedented violence” (translated). No formal placing under investigation or judicial decision is reported as of 2026-10-09: the person arrested is presumed innocent.
