Image of the scene: In Le Grand-Quevilly, an MP denounces police grenade-launcher fire at students of the Val-de-Seine lycée

On 1 October 2026 at 12:27 p.m. (UTC), Seine-Maritime MP Alma Dufour (LFI) posts on X a 47-second video with this text: “At the Val de Seine lycée in Grand-Quevilly, the police, without identification, aim at CHILDREN at point-blank range with a grenade launcher. 3 seriously injured in 3 days.” (translated) The message adds: “I have asked the Seine-Maritime prefecture to stop using heavy weapons against high-school students.” (translated) This is an allegation by an elected official: she specifies neither the date of the shots, nor the identity or condition of the injured, nor the place of the “3 seriously injured”, nor the police unit concerned. Between 28 September and 1 October, the press reported three serious injuries to high-school students, but in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (28/09), Tours (30/09) and Argenteuil (01/10): the message does not say whether its figure refers to these cases; the entry therefore does not attribute it to the Val-de-Seine lycée.

The video, which we watched, shows helmeted officers, several with a red armband and backpacks, in dark clothing with no legible identity marker, standing under trees facing a large gathering of young people at a distance; one of them carries a long object on his back. No shot, no injured person and no projectile appears; nothing makes it possible to place the scene or its date.

France 3 Normandie and ICI confirm only that the Val-de-Seine lycée was blockaded on 1 October, with “several hundred” (translated) high-school students, students confined indoors and police on site. These articles report two school heads injured in other lycées of the urban area. The Seine-Maritime prefecture reports five injured among law enforcement and education staff at 1 p.m. (France 3 Rouen, 01/10, updated at 4:48 p.m.), and eight people injured “without detail” (translated) in the version of ICI updated at 3:19 p.m.; it counts 23 arrests since Tuesday, 14 of them that day (France 3 Rouen), then 38, 28 of them that day (ICI). None of these articles mentions a high-school student injured by a shot in Le Grand-Quevilly. ICI writes that at the Val-de-Seine lycée it is the “same scenes” (translated) as at the lycée cited just before (Galilée, in Franqueville-Saint-Pierre, where it mentions eggs and firecrackers thrown), with a blockade and students confined indoors; the phrase does not specify what happened at Val-de-Seine. No specific act of violence by protesters at the Val-de-Seine lycée was found in the sources read.
