On Monday 5 October 2026 at 1:38 p.m. (Paris time), L’insoumission, the outlet of La France insoumise, posts on X a two-minute video under the title “A young student is strangled and thrown to the ground by police officers near his school, the Berlioz lycée in Vincennes” (translated). The message says the scene took place “this Monday morning”, that classes there “had been called off since 1 a.m.”, and that “the BRAV-M and the BAC arrived and pinned students to the ground by putting their hands over their mouths” (translated). It adds: “‘He’s going to kill me’ cried the high-school student pinned to the ground, while the police officers continued their violence.” (translated)
The first sequence of the video, filmed on a phone on a cobbled street lined with café terraces and shared bikes, shows several plainclothes men, some wearing an armband, who bring a young person to the ground and hold him down together, one of them kneeling on him; another holds a baton. People around shout “Let go of him!” and “Let go of the arm!” (translated). Young people and photographers stand on the pavement. The image does not make it possible to see a neck hold.
The video then goes on to other sequences, the last of which, marked with a different logo, show arrests in a square lined with a hall with large glass roofs. The message does not say whether all were shot in the same place: only the first is described here. One of these sequences shows the same arrest as the video published the same day by AB7 Média, which places it on the margins of the mobilisation at the Bergson lycée, in Paris 19th arrondissement: it has its own entry, Paris 19th, Bergson lycée.
What is missing to confirm
- A second independent source (media, authority): the exact place of the first sequence is given only by L’insoumission, and no legible landmark in the image confirms it.
- The young person’s state of health, what followed the arrest and the police’s version.
- The place and date of the other sequences of the video.
- Searches carried out on 2026-10-05 at around 11 p.m.: four general press searches, with no article on the scene; local press: Vincennes pages of actu.fr and 94 Citoyens read, nothing on the scene; Le Parisien (Val-de-Marne) not read (access denied).
