Image of the scene: Troyes: the prefecture says a police vehicle was hit by thrown projectiles near Marie-de-Champagne lycée

On the morning of Thursday 1 October 2026, outside Marie-de-Champagne lycée in Troyes, an unmarked police car drives through a crowd of young people while spraying tear gas through its windows: this filmed scene is described in the linked entry.

In a statement sent on the evening of 2 October, the Aube prefecture places the events on 1 October near the lycée and puts forward that the police officers returning to their vehicle were the target of thrown projectiles (France 3 Grand Est; Canal 32 repeats the statement). According to the prefecture, up to 600 people were counted at the peak of the gathering, students from several schools and “people from outside the school environment” (translated) (France 3).

The articles read describe neither the nature of the projectiles, nor the damage to the vehicle, nor the identity of the perpetrators. In the descriptions read, the video broadcast does not show projectiles being thrown. The prefecture also reports two police officers injured during this gathering, without saying where, how or by whom.
