On Thursday 1 October 2026, an M6 journalist covering the blockade of the Saint-Exupéry lycée is assaulted according to M6. In its statement quoted by Puremédias, the M6 group says its journalist “was injured on the forehead and his camera was broken” (translated) and announces it is filing a complaint. On air, a journalist from the channel specified that he had been “surrounded and hit several times” (translated) and that his camera had been destroyed, the images he had captured being broadcast. ICI Provence, citing the prefecture, mentions an M6 journalist set upon by protesters, injured on the forehead, his camera destroyed.
The M6 journalists’ association, quoted by Entrevue, specifies that the journalist was “set upon as he was about to leave” and then “surrounded by many individuals and hit several times” (translated). The 30-second video published by M6 Info on 1 October alternates a shot of the “12.45” studio set and images filmed by the journalist’s camera; in the images examined, one sees only the ground, feet and, in close-up, a surface that seems cracked: no blow and no attacker can be identified in it, and the caption says only “Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), 1 October” (translated).
The sources read specify neither the ITT (days of total incapacity for work), nor any hospital care, nor the identity of the perpetrators; the “minor” gravity rests solely on the forehead injury alleged by M6 and the prefecture, with no hospitalisation or ITT reported. The sources are not fully independent: M6 (and its journalists’ association) is a party to the case, and ICI Provence, which cites the prefecture, does not detail the incident; no image of the assault itself is published.
Follow-up
The M6 group announced its intention to file a complaint; the actual filing and the opening of an investigation are not confirmed in the sources read as of 2026-10-04, and no arrest linked to this incident is reported.
What is missing to confirm
- A substantive source distinct from M6’s statement: ICI Provence relies on the prefecture, without detail (searches of 4 October: the articles found all repeat M6’s statement or that of its journalists’ association).
- A medical report, a confirmed complaint or an investigation by the public prosecutor’s office.
- Images of the assault: M6’s video does not show any.
