On Tuesday 29 September 2026, students of the Joffre, Jean-Monnet and Jules-Guesde lycées blockade their schools in Montpellier to demand more resources and denounce the shortage of teachers (Le Poing).

A Joffre student tells Le Poing: “We arrived at 6 a.m., and every time we tried to set up the blockade, the police intervened. We were charged and shoved, but we made a human chain to hold out.” (translated) Le Poing reports this statement without cross-checking it and without specifying the exact place, the unit or any injuries. The other articles read on this day in Montpellier (France 3 Occitanie, ToutMontpellier) cite Joffre among the mobilised lycées but describe no incident at Joffre.

Follow-up

No complaint or investigation is reported in the sources read as of 2026-10-05.

What is missing to confirm

The fact rests on a single testimony, collected by a single media outlet. A second independent source describing the scene at Joffre that morning would be needed (another witness, a video, an observer, a reaction from the police or the prefecture). Read as of 2026-10-05: Le Poing (29/09 and 05/10), France 3 Occitanie (30/09), ToutMontpellier (01/10), ICI Hérault (01/10), Hérault Tribune (01/10). None describes a charge at Joffre on 29 September. Not read: Midi Libre, Actu Montpellier, Métropolitain, La Gazette de Montpellier, the Observatoire’s publications.
